Vipiteno – Between history and shopping
The city of Vipiteno is located on the highest part of Val d’Isarco, between the Brenner Pass and the by the Isarco river. Attractions of the medieval Fugger’s town include historic sites like the XV century’s “Torre delle Dodici”, the 1399 ‘Santo Spirito’ church, the ‘Nostra signora delle Paludi’ parish church, “St. Elisabetta” in the Teutonic Knights Palace and the church of “Santa Margherita”.
Equally fascinating are the xv century Town hall with its art collection, the Mining museum and the municipal museum, containing four famous altarpieces by Hans Multscher. Interesting cultural events take place in the Municipal Theatre and in the Municipal Library. In the surroundings of Vipiteno you’ll find the castles of Reifenstein, Sprechenstein and Moos in Prati.
