„Ötzi“ – The man who came from the cold …
A journey into the depths of humanity will take you to Bolzano where the world’s most famous mummy is preserved in the Archaeology Museum. „Ötzi“, the man who came from the ice is at least 5000 years old!
The museum, opened in 1998, presents the results of detailed research resulting in fascinating facts and aspects of life at the time of „Ötzi“. What clothes was he wearing, what was he eating, where did he live and how did he die? Videos, pictures and multimedia presentations give visitors plenty of information on the Neolithic age. Research on „Ötzi“ has allowed studying this age in relationship to climate evolution and pathogen agents’ development. It might even be possible to see the actual mummy within its display, unless of course it is taken out to the lab for regular ongoing research.
